Share your life story..

So November is finally here...the true holiday season is quickly approaching.  Time to reflect on the blessings within your life.  During this holiday season my wish is that everyone take a minute to count their blessings within their lives.  It is during this time of hustle and bustle that we can often get caught up in all the commercialism of the holidays.  Therefore, I have decided to do a gratitude entry during the month of November.....I can't guarantee that it will be a daily posting to my blog but I am going to set a goal for myself to at least post once a week for the month of November.

I am THANKFUL For..... the fact that I have a fabulous family that loves and supports me.  There is nothing else better than waking up to your children's smiling faces on a daily basis.  Motherhood was a tough challenge for me.  Thank heavens for fertility doctors.  I was blessed to have a FABULOUS fertility doctor that provided us with our daughter almost 11 1/2 years ago.

What are you thankful for?????  If it is a loved one then let them know you are thankful by gifting them with a South Hill Designs Locket.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  If you have ever been touched by this disease please reach out to those that continue fighting it.  Many of my high school friends have been impacted by this horrible disease and I admire each and every one of them for their continual fight against breast cancer.

Just returned from a one of a kind experience.  I attended the first conference for South Hill Designs.  It was a wonderful experience that I got to share with my South Hill Designs family and friends.  The energy at the conference was more than contagious and the relationships are one of a kind.  My take-away from the conference is that you are in charge of your destiny...don't limit yourself in your dreams......dream big and than dream even bigger.  You can be in control over your destiny if you stay focused and determined.  I am determined that I will do great things in the near future and I know that I will have all my South Hill Designs sisters right beside me on my journey.  Much love to Teri Sorensen, Cassandra Hamlin and Kim Nichols for making my very first

This morning I was notified that my Halloween Locket Design was chosen as the winner for the 2013 South Hill Designs Locket Design Contest.
Needless to say that I was beyond thrilled to have been chosen.  Designing lockets has to be the best part of my business because I get to use all of my creative, imaginative juices when designing.  The other locket design entries were fantastic as well.   This followed finding out that I had won some delicious cupcakes or cookies from a friend that own a local bakery business.   Talk about a fantastic weekend full of great news.

The countdown to conference continues....it is now only 5 days away and South Hills Designs Corp. announced even more goodies for attendees.  I can not wait to see the fabulous stuff that is coming.

I hope that everyone has a fabulous week....I know that I will :)

South Hill Designs is hosting their first ever Artist Conference in Phoenix next Friday.  This event will be so exciting for a number of reasons.  First and foremost, it will be the inaugural conference for SHD.  Secondly, it is an opportunity for many talented SHD artists to be able to meet, network and mingle.  Third, the launch of all new product will be held during conference.  Fourth.........you get the message....it is will be a blast.  Since I am new to South Hill Designs and love what I do I decided to make the commitment to invest in me and my SHD Business and registered to attend.  I am sooo excited about my first conference experience which everyone promises to be a life changing event.  The fact that I am going to get to share this experience with some wonderful friends is just the icing on the top of the cake.  One of my dearest friends and the great person that introduced me to SHD is attending with me along with the first person I told about my business that signed on to SHD with me.  I couldn't think of two better people to join me!!!!  I know that I will have many sleepless nights leading up to conference this next week.

Stay tuned and follow my blog while I post updates, pictures, info about all the wonderful upcoming events and happenings with South Hill Designs.....if you haven't already contacted me to host a South Hill Designs social in the upcoming months.....you will want to do so when you see all the great things coming in the next few months.  I hope to hear from many of you soon.

I hope that everyone has a fabulous week.......I know that I will!!!  In the words of Lisa Chelius our National Director for SHD....."the best is yet to come"!

The month of August was an amazing month for me and my South Hill Designs business.  My team and I promoted to a Team Builder team which was an amazing accomplishment considering my team consists of only 4 artists.  My Team Leader promoted to a Team Director which is even a larger accomplishment since our San Antonio group is fairly new and fairly small.

All of this growth has inspired me to stay focused and positive not just in my part time business but in life in general.  It is so easy for us to revert back to what comes naturally and easy to us.  It is much more difficult to step outside of your comfort zone and do something that is challenging and difficult but think about the rewards and sense of accomplishment that you feel when you succeed.  That is the exact feeling that I had when I realized that I our Team was going to be promoted to that next level.

If you are looking to stretch yourself.  If you are looking for an opportunity to own your own business.  If you are looking for a way just to make some extra money but don't feel that you could do something like direct sales.....don't short-change yourself.  I had the same thoughts when I took the leap of faith and decided to try my hand with South Hill Designs.  The friendships and fun that I have had while starting this new journey in life are priceless.  I look forward to stretching myself more in the future.

If you are interested in owning your own business, making some extra money, or just wanting an opportunity to connect with some fabulous people then take the leap of faith and join me on my South Hills Design Team.  I promise that you will be surrounded by a group of wonderful, caring, fun ladies that are eager to share their knowledge and experiences with you.

Today was my first "official" contract day for school year 2013-2014.  The beginning of school always is a time for excitement.  As a kid it was one of my favorite events....I know I know....what you are thinking....you must be a nerd.  Yes....I was quite studious in school and loved school.  And as an adult....I find that as the weeks leading up to the first day of school near...I often experience the same feeling that I felt when I was a little kid.  Excitement and anticipation for the school year.  Walking around our campus today I felt the energy and excitement of many of our staff members who were up at school (on their days off :  their contracts don't start for another week).  They were setting up their classrooms making sure that everything is perfect for the students who will be placed in their classrooms for the next school year.
I am fortunate that not only am I a parent of one of these kids that will entering those doors in a few short weeks but am also an educator.  I am blessed to see all that goes on behind the scenes in preparation for that first day of school.  It is my hope that the parents of all of our students appreciate the dedication and investment of time that all of our teachers have provided to prepare for the upcoming year.
I am looking forward to working with my Kinder, 3rd and 4th graders this year.  As a school counselor, I have the benefit of working will all the kids in my grade levels and look forward to the daily reception that I receive when I walk into classrooms to teach my guidance lessons.  My kids treat me as if I am a rock star each and every day.  It never fails that when I open the door the kids are already cheering and chanting.  That my friends is truly priceless.  I don't know many jobs where you walk into a room to applause, hugs and smiles all around.
I often get comments from individual's not in the educating profession stating "I could NEVER do what your do" or "I don't know how you do it".  Well my short and simple answer is......my kids (students....they really are like my own kids).  So as many of your kids make their way back into the classroom, please thank, support and partner with your children's teachers. You see....we all have a common goal.......success of your child.  Best wishes for an awesome school year for everyone!!!!  I hope that your kids BUILD AWESOME LIFE STORIES this year.  Thankful that the teachers I had as a kid helped me to do the same.  That is why I LOVED school so much as a kid.

My father was a career military man.  He served in the Air Force for 20+ years and then when he retired from that job he went back to work for the Armed Forces in a civil service position.   Being a dependent in the military has it's own unique challenges and it's unique benefits which I never fully realized nor appreciated growing up as a kid.  Now that I am an adult  I can totally appreciate being a military "BRAT" as well like to call ourselves.  When I was younger, I HATED the fact that we never stayed in one location for more than 3 years.  But the timing was like clockwork...after I got settled, made friends, my dad would walk through the door and announce we are moving once again.  Leaving my friends behind was an awful experience.  And forget as I got older and started dating how awful it was to leave your high school sweethearts.  And long distance relationships are soooooo hard to maintain.  But even though those experiences were filled with lots of heartbreak and tears.  I can now look back on them fondly.  I have been very fortunate to have been able to travel the world, Europe, Asia, the United States thanks to my dad's military service.  I have also been blessed to have met hundreds if not thousands of people during all those travels as well.
As a result of being a military "BRAT"  I can report that there is a special bond and connection that all military BRAT's share that is unique to this special group.  That bond is not something that can be described or explained it just exists.  No matter where we all may have ended up, when we connect again it is like nothing has changed...time stands still.  Those BRATS are my second family.  We are there to support each other through anything and everything.  This past week I got another opportunity to experience this unique feeling.  A former high school classmate that attended high school with me while our parents were stationed at Clark AB, Republic of the Philippines, retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service and I was fortunate enough to be able to attend his retirement ceremony along with a few other classmates that reside in San Antonio with me.  It was such a memorable experience.  The fact that we could attend and support each other is amazing after 25 years.  Truly a blessing.  During this same week another former classmate that resided at the same air base contacted me via FB only to discover that we live miles from each other.  I am looking forward to connecting with her this coming weekend.
I love all the "BRATS" that I have met along my lifelong journey and thank the heavens above that they were placed into my life.  They have truly made my life better for it.  So wherever you all are...I thank you for your friendship and for being a part of my life.  You all will always hold a special place in my heart.  MILITARY BRATS forever!

In honor of my friend that retired from the Air Force last week and to all my military "BRAT" friends this is for you.  Proud of being a "BRAT".

Everyone always used to say the older you get the less sleep you get.  Well.......I believe it!  Although I would love to get more sleep my body just says "NO!".  So I figure why fight it...instead I take this time to unwind, enjoy the peace and quiet of my house (which doesn't come very often with two children at home).  It is also a time where I get the opportunity to express my creativity whether it be through photography, blogging, scrapbooking, cardmaking, sewing, or designing SHD lockets.  I hope that you will visit my page often to see and share new ideas.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back here in the near future.  While your here take some time to look at some of the pictures that myself and my fellow South Hill Designers have created under my photos section.

I am an elementary school counselor and a mother of two children and am Independent Artist with South Hills Designs. I am also a former military brat. My father proudly served in the Air Force for over twenty years. As a result, I was fortunate enough to travel all over the world. When I am not playing taxi, teacher, cheerleader, cook, etc, I love to relax and do crafts, blog and design South Hills Lockets. I find that crafting is a great way to unwind and de-stress after a hectic day and blogging allows me to stay in touch with the many people I was fortunate enough to meet in my travels.
